Caught Marsh, Bowled Lillee - Ian Brayshaw

Ian Brayshaw first played for Western Australia in the 1960-61 season and finally retired in 1978 after a distinguished career for the State.

A family man with four children, Brayshaw lives in Perth where he now works as a Sports Broadcaster for the ABC and as a freelance author and writer. His experience on the field and in the dressing rooms with Rod Marsh and Dennis Lillee, and his close observation of the two from behind the microphones of the ABC, mean Brayshaw is well equipped to write the story of two world champions from the same small city. He has also published eleven books, five of which were written in collaboration with either Lillee or Marsh.

For the record, Brayshaw played 101 games for Western Australia, scoring 4325 runs, taking 178 wickets and completing 109 catches. He played in six Sheffield Shield-winning teams, made three centuries for the State and, in October 1967 became the third man to take all ten wickets in an innings of a Shield game by returning figures of 10-44 against Victoria in Perth.
