Free Pickup

If you live within a reasonable radius of Woolgoolga (near Coffs Harbour on the mid-north coast of NSW) you are welcome to pick your books up for free from:

25 Nash Street, Woolgoolga, between 9am and 7pm, Monday to Saturday.

If you wish to do this, please select the "Free Pickup" option in checkout and also please correspond with us via email for pickup arrangements.

Please do not use this option if you do not plan to collect your books as we cannot post items once this option has been selected.

Shipping

Each postal order has a small handling fee of 30c to help with the costs of packaging materials and various freight overheads. This helps us keep the price of our books low so you benefit from better prices!

All books are shipped via Australia Post regular parcel service, unless otherwise requested (Registered Post is offered as an option in checkout).

We can ship books to virtually any address in the world via this method.

When you place an order, we will provide shipping costs in checkout for you, based on the options you choose.

The shipping rates for all parcels are size and/or weight-based, as determined by Australia Post. A postage calculator is provided when you place your order.

The weight of any book can be found on its detail page.

The size of any book can be determined from the grading and size description on its detail page. For explanations of descriptions please see the "Book Grades" page.

Here follows a general guide:

Within Australia:

Under 125g - Parcels under 125g and under 2cm in height can sometimes be sent as "large letters" to most Australian post codes for $1.80. If the package is over 2cm high it must be sent as a "parcel", which will usually be $4.55. Dimensions may have a bearing on the cost.

125g - 250g - Parcels between 125g and 250g can usually be sent to most Australian post codes for $4.55, though this may be dependent on dimensions.

250g to 500g - Parcels between 250g and 500g can usually be sent to most Australian post codes for $5.80, though once again parcel dimensions can have a bearing on this.

500g to 3kg - Parcels between 500g and 3kg can usually be sent for $10.30 (provided it fits in a 3kg satchel) to most Australian post codes.

Over 3kg - cost may vary according to size, weight and destination post code. A quote will be provided in check out.

International Rates:

We offer both Air-Mail and Surface (Sea) Mail via Australia Post regular parcel service.

Cost may vary according to size, weight, destination and type of shipping chosen.

Returns Policy

Books purchased from Magpie Books may be returned if the book differs materially from the description posted on the site.

All such returns will be entitled to a full credit or refund of the book price and initial postage cost only. Books must be returned at the buyers expense within 14 days of receipt. Please note we cannot credit or refund until the book has been returned to us and we have determined its condition to be similar to when it was sent.

Whilst we are not responsible for parcels which are damaged or lost in the mail, we are happy to deal with this situation on a case-by-case basis. You may be entitled to a refund of shipping costs if Australia Post determines the parcel to be damaged or lost by them. Convincing evidence (photographs) may be required in the case of damage.

Please realise this decision rests with Australia Post and we are unable to make a determination independently once the claim process has been initiated.

Please also note that not all loss and damage claims for regular parcels made to Australia Post are successful, and this is beyond our control.

If loss or damage is a concern for you we highly recommend using the "Registered Post" option available in checkout. It's a small price to pay for peace of mind.
